The Pawsitive Trainer - Georgie

Who am I?

I am a qualified dog trainer with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), a VSA-CDT, a member of:

- the UK dog behaviour and training charter

- the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT)

- the IAABC

- Mantrailing global

and I am trained in pet first aid.

My training  methods are focused on the dogs needs and welfare. As such I am a force free trainer, using positive reinforcement.

I am passionate about improving dogs lives through helping owners to better understand their dogs and  teach them how to help their dogs live fuller, enriched lives.

I have been working as a dog trainer for a few years and I’ve been professionally walking dogs for several years.

From 2021-2023 I was employed at a Dogstrust rehoming centre as a Canine Carer - training and walking all shapes, sizes and temperaments of dogs. Teaching them skills to keep their minds active and  help them find suitable new homes.

Prior to this I obtained my degree (BSc) in Zoology and animal behaviour at university, walking dogs in my free time.

I believe in staying up to date with modern, science lead methods in dog training, so when I'm not working with clients or my own dogs, I'm studying - reading books,  taking courses, attending seminars and webinars.

Force free - What does this mean? Why does it matter?

Force free means that I do not use or teach with any methods that cause your dog discomfort, pain or fear. Rather than using punishment when a dog does something we don’t like, I encourage instead teaching a dog to do something that we do like.

There are many benefits to training without force. Through force free training, dogs are encouraged to live happy, fear free lives built on relationships with people based on empathy, trust and enjoyment.

Reward based, force free training is less likely than 'balanced' or compulsion based training to build up frustration or suppress emotions until a bigger issue is developed.

What group classes do I offer?

I offer a few different group classes: Puppy classes, Teen/ adult dog classes, Scent work classes and Mantrailing classes

What individual training do I offer

I offer one to one training, available to help with training and behaviour problems or for private coaching on trick training, scent work and more. This can be done remotely, at your home or in my enclosed training fields.

I also offer a 'puppy preschool' package, to help guide you through the early stages of puppy ownership, before they are old enough to attend class.

Testimony from experienced trainer Odette at Muttley Matters:

This world needs more trainers like Georgie. She is fully committed to modern, science-based, positive reinforcement methods always putting the dog’s welfare first and foremost. Georgie shadowed me at Muttley Matters and I was struck by her empathy and patience with the doggos. I can highly recommend 😀🐾
